Top notes are the opening line, the bit that hits your nose the second you spritz.

Heart Notes - The Soul of the Scent

Judging a scent only on first spray.
That first spritz is just the top notes talking. Rush to the till and you might miss the heart and base notes that show up later.
Ignoring your skin chemistry.
Fragrance never behaves the same on a blotter as it does on skin. Your pH, diet and body temperature all shape how a scent develops.
Not letting a fragrance settle.
Spray a pulse point, walk away, and give it 30 minutes to two hours before deciding. And don't rub your wrists together, that friction breaks down the top notes early.
