Rated 1 out of 5 by from The previous version was far superior The main downgrade in this new version is that the formula no longer provides the same styling power hold. Unlike the previous version, the new formula DOES NOT hold my hair in the shape I style it into effectively. That also results in noticeably less volume, as the formula no longer manages to keep the hair spread out in shape the way the previous one did. The new version also seems to make the hair look more dull compared to the previous one. Furthermore in this new version the product no longer spreads evenly across large surfaces of the hair when applied. Instead, it tends to concentrate on specific areas and makes the hair overly wet. In other words, this version makes the hair more dull than the previous one, does not hold the shape I create when styling my hair, and lacks the volume that the previous formula provided. The previous version had the perfect balance of hold, volume, light-weight texture and Brushability, with none of these coming at the expense of the others. The slogans "Good before-Incredible after" and "New look-Same incredible results" sadly do not reflect my experience. I am 24 years old and I had been using this product for at least 6 years and regularly purchased multiple pieces in single orders (boxes of 10-15 pieces each time) as an individual consumer. Now I find myself looking for an alternative product. This is very disappointing for me, because the previous formula was able to maintain the hairstyle I wanted: my signature look of full, voluminous hair. If the manufacturers wanted to introduce a new version, they should at least have kept the previous version on the market as an option. I still hope they will reconsider and bring it back...

The hairspray was sticky and stiff and didn't give hold to any style and just looked messy.

The mist is quite "heavy" and leaves the hair feeling wet initially. Once it dries down though, the hair ain't going AHYWHERE. Fab hairspray.

Didn’t really hard and sticky, instead it had a strong hold but brushed out and don’t feel hard or sticky. I would recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong hold. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] John Frieda Volume Lift Hold the Lift Hairspray gives nice volume and keeps my hair in place. The hold is quite strong, so I try not to overdo the application, it can feel a bit heavy. If I use a small amount, there’s no stickiness and the hair still looks natural. It’s easy to work with and reapplication during the day doesn’t make it messy. Overall, it works really well for me.

Very easy to use and I found I didn’t need a lot of product to give my hair a lift. Doesn’t leave no sticky residue but a natural hold. It smells lovely nothing to over powering. I found I was able to reapply the spray to my roots without any white flaking too. Great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good hold for thick hair [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the hairspray to hold my headless curls which normally drop out very quickly from my thick long hair. The hairspray is a little sticky but it is possible to brush out the residue to leave hair feeling held but not crispy. The hairspray is quite lightweight but with my hair type does need quite a big spray. I have found this holds for around six hours.
