I have salt and pepper, wavy to voila, dry hair and used many different oils but this one just makes my hair look super oily with literally only 4 drops and at the same time my hair is very dry as well. I would love to return this if I could - it’s so expensive and doesn’t smell great. More a bit like a pharmacy. I also just noticed that all the reviews are a few years old. It seems to me Aveda has changed the ingredients for this product as they seem to have done with many of their products recently

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back Brilliant hair oil! I was recommended this to replace the blue bottle of Brilliant hair oil which I've used for years. My hair is becoming quite dry and brittle due to my age so I really need a good quality oil which works. This oil doesn't smell at all like any other Aveda product I have tried - it almost smells like an oil you would treat wood with (matches the brown label really!) certainly not the usual aromatherapy aroma Aveda is known for . At such a high price point for a small bottle I really expected this to smell beautiful but it smells very unpleasant and doesn't give the desired effect. The oil either does absolutely nothing to add shine and tame my hair and if I use more my hair becomes weighed down, lank and looks greasy. I have used many other premium hair oils and this is the worst one I've ever tried. I'm so disappointed as I use all Aveda products (Botanicals/Sap Moss/Nutri-plenish) but I will go back to another oil as this is unuseable .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product has caused an allergic reaction When I don't have my hair blow dried I thought I would use this product for when I wash and go. I have used this product about 4 times and realised that this product is causing my ears to burn like they are on fire. So I would not recommend this product at all. I have been trying to make a complaint about this but cannot find the complaint dept email address. I normally use the dry remedy leave in conditioner daily hair repair which is great so will be returning to this,
